Scott Volkers was born in 1958 in Brisbane, Australia. During his esteemed career, Scott has coached swimming at state, national and international levels for over 40 years, holding roles as former Australian Head Coach at 2003 World Championships Rome, Australian Team Coach Commonwealth Games, Pan Pacific Games, World Short Course and Olympic Games levels between 1992 and 2000. Brazil National Team Coach, South American Championship, Pan American Championships, and selected for the Rio Olympic Games 2016 for Brazil. Scott was Queensland Head Coach from 1997 until 2011. During which time he worked with great Olympic Gold medal-winning coaches like Michael Bohl, Stephan Widmer, Denis Cotterill, Ken Wood, John Carew, Shannon Rollason and their athletes. Scott has coached elite athletes to Olympic glory with gold, silver and bronze medallists across multiple strokes and distances. His athletes have broken a plethora of World, Commonwealth, Australian and South American records. Scott’s professional accolades include Confederation Sports Coach of the Year (1995), Australian Coach of the Year (1995) and (1997), World Coach of the Quadrennium finalist (1997) and Award for Outstanding Coaching Achievements (1999) to name a few. Scott’s passion for swimming and proven excellence in the sport is trusted and respected by swimmers and coaches from numerous countries around the World. His leadership and unwavering quest for success is renowned in the coaching community.
